Associate Researcher
Mattia Montanari is a computational scientist at the University of Oxford. His research deploys algorithms to make product development faster, easier and more accessible than ever. He advocates for a mantra of automation as opposed to copy-paste.
Mattia completed his bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (2011) and a double-degree MSc in Computational Mechanics (2013) studying at Bologna University (Italy), KTH (Sweden), Swansea University (UK) and Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France) while working with industry. His MSc dissertation developed a model trained to solve CFD-thermal models at the ABB Research Centre. In 2018, he completed his DPhil (PhD) at Oxford University with the thesis "New distance algorithms for optimisation and contact mechanics problems" under the supervision of Prof. Nik Petrinic. This work was referred for an invited technical note as SIGGRAPH 2017, Los Angeles.
